Summing up Tallinn Photomonth ’21

2021 marked the 6th edition of Tallinn Photomonth contemporary art biennial (1.09.–17.10.2023). As part of its main programme, an international group exhibition took place at the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (EKKM) and at 4 additional venues around Tallinn: Kopli folk house, Original Sokos Hotel Viru, National Library of Estonia and in the urban area of Lasnamägi district (curated by The Creative Association of Curators TOK / Anna Bitkina, Maria Veits). The biennial main programme also included an artists’ film programme at Cinema Sõprus (curated by Len Murusalu and Julian Ross) and the only art fair in Estonia, Foto Tallinn, held at Kai Art Center (curated by Isabella van Marle). Also a diverse satellite programme took place at different galleries and art spaces all around Tallinn. During Tallinn Photomonth ’21 a total of 15 exhibitions were open.

All locations and exhibitions included in the biennale were connected by various public events and an educational programme held in both Estonian and Russian. Over 800 students took part in the guided tours and workshops, setting a new attendance record for our educational programme. Tallinn Photomonth ’21 hosted nearly 90 public events attended by over 1200 people, and the total number of biennial visitors was over 33 000.

We would like to give a big thanks to all artists, curators, partner organisations, supporters, visitors and helpers, who took part in the making of Tallinn Photomonth ’21.

See you again in the fall of 2023!
